A historian and member of the Lebanese Maronite Order (OLM), Father Ignatios Al-Khoury was born in the town of Kfarshakhna – District of Zgharta in 1899. Following his early studies in his hometown’s open-air school, he joined the OLM in 1914 and continued his studies in the order’s schools. At the OLM’s behest, he pursued his higher education at the Jesuits’ Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut and was ordained to the priesthood in 1928.
Having been appointed as director of the Al-Qala’a School in Akkar wherein he taught Arabic and French, he became an instructor at the Patriarchal College in Beirut and at the Brothers of the Christian Schools’ institution in Ras Beirut in 1913. In 1938, he became the counselor of the Brothers of the Christian Schools at their major institute in Beirut, wherein he dedicated himself to research and writing.
مؤرخ وراهب ماروني من الرهبانية اللبنانية المارونية. ولد في قرية كفرشخنا – قضاء زغرتا. بدأ دروسه الاولى في مدرسة تحت السنديانة. سنة 1914 دخل الرهبانية اللبنانية ودرس في مدارسها. ادخلته الرهبنة الى الكلية اليسوعية في بيروت فأكمل دروسه العالية. سيم كاهنا سنة 1928
عين مديرا لمدرسة القلعة في عكار ومدرسا فيها العربية والفرنسية. سنة 1913 استاذا في الكلية البطريركية في بيروت وفي مدرسة الفرير في راس بيروت. سنة 1938 مرشدا لاخوة المدارس المسيحية في معهدهم الكبير في بيروت حيث انصرف للبحث والتأليف
