Abbot Boulos Naaman, OLM, 1932-: Home

Born in Chartoun (district of Aley) in 1932, he studied philosophy and theology at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) between 1951 and 1957. After completing a Baccalaureate in Theology in Rome in 1959, he earned a Doctorate in History from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1966. In addition to his positions as dean of the Faculty of Letters and director of the Institute of History at USEK between 1972 and 1980, he taught history from 1970 to 2000.

A former superior general of the Lebanese Maronite Order (OLM) between 1980 and 1986, he has authored numerous books, articles, and lectures on Lebanese and Church history, particularly the history of the Maronite Church, in Arabic, French, and English.

وُلِدَ في شرتون – عاليه سنة 1932. درس الفلسفة واللاهوت في جامعة الروح القدس – الكسليك من سنة 1951 إلى سنة 1957. نال إجازة في اللاهوت من روما سنة 1959 ودكتوراه في التاريخ من الجامعة الغريغوريّة في روما سنة 1966. شغل منصب عميد كلّيّة الآداب ومدير معهد التاريخ في جامعة الروح القدس – الكسليك من سنة 1972 إلى سنة 1980، وأستاذ مادّة التاريخ من سنة 1970 إلى سنة 2000.

كذلك، كان رئيسًا عامًّا للرهبانيّة اللبنانيّة المارونيّة من سنة 1980 حتى سنة 1986. له مؤلّفات ومقالات ومحاضرات عدّة في التاريخ اللبنانيّ والكنسيّ، وخاصّة تاريخ الكنيسة المارونيّة، في اللغات العربيّة والفرنسيّة والإنكليزيّة.

Né à Chartoun (district d’Aley) en 1932, il a étudié la philosophie et la théologie à l’Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik (USEK) entre 1951 et 1957. Après un baccalauréat en théologie à Rome en 1959, il obtient un doctorat en histoire de l’Université Pontificale Grégorienne en 1966. Doyen de la Faculté des Lettres et de directeur de l’Institut d’Histoire de l’USEK entre 1972 et 1980, il a également enseigné l’histoire de 1970 à 2000.

Ancien supérieur général de l’Ordre Libanais Maronite (OLM) de 1980 à 1986, il est l’auteur de nombreux livres, articles et conférences sur l’histoire du Liban et de l’Église, notamment l’histoire de l’Église maronite, en arabe, français et anglais.
